Background
Our clients' great-grandfather had formally been adjudged the owner of several parcels of land more than a century ago. His descendants never completed inheritance registration, and over the long years that followed the State completed preservation registration of ownership over the land. On learning of this by chance, the descendants came to Changchun.
What Was at Stake
Amid rights unresolved for more than seventy years, our clients had to prove they were the rightful owners of the land. The older the matter, the scarcer the records and the harder the proof.
How Changchun Helped
Changchun examined old records closely — the historical land survey registers and family registers among them — and proved that our clients were the rightful owners of the land.
The court issued a recommendation for settlement in our clients' favor in full, and they swiftly recovered ownership of the land. The case shows that even long-buried rights can be revived by tracing old records thoroughly. (Outcomes depend on the facts of each case and may differ.)
